Careful Where You Plant That Flag!

We are now in the direct approach to some hugely significant cosmic configurations which occur on 26th August (GMT). I’ll be posting more about them later today and, of course, on Monday, but right now we need to begin our preparations because they are BIG and I’m excited!
Today we have a choice to make: Do we identify with the restrictions and frustrations in our lives, or do we identify with the potential for transformation? On the face of it, it sounds like a fairly straightforward question, but in order to answer with one hundred percent honesty and integrity we need to dig really deep and consider very carefully where we plant our flag in life. It’s all very well being inspired when things are going well, transformation is taking place and we have a sense of progress, inner peace, or whatever it is that floats our boat! We can all sign up to the whole conscious evolution narrative on days like that. It’s easy to identify with the potential for transformation when we’re transforming! But when we’re not… when we feel stuck, burdened, even moving in a backwards direction, beset with echoes from the past which we thought were done and dusted long ago, it’s a whole lot harder to stick with the notion that transformation is on the rise and we’re all evolving!
Perhaps a misunderstanding lurks at the root of this issue: an assumption that transformation should happen spontaneously and without effort, or that the amount of effort required is minimal compared to the extent of the shift we experience. Neither of these appear to be true in the face of a cosmos which takes time to move and shift everything into place for the likes of the configurations occurring at the beginning of next week. They haven’t just appeared out of thin air! It’s taken eons for the heavenly bodies to each arrive at its position in every moment, and when we reach a day like 26th August 2013 it’s a gift arising from billions of years of activity and movement, progress, evolution and development. Just as we, you and I, are the same: products of an endless process, being forever re-shaped and refined as we journey through life.
So this question of where we plant our flag is key to where our life goes from here. Because if we can only identify with transformation when it’s apparent, according to our own definition of what it should look like, we’re going to experience less and less of it as time goes by. Not as some kind of cosmic punishment because we’re not playing the game, but because much of the energy which fuels change comes from our identification with the promise of the moment and the potential that rests at the heart of each one of us. If we don’t believe we can change, or that change is occurring in every moment of our lives (which it is, even if we can’t perceive it), then we won’t change, so we’ll be right! And if we do have faith in the potential for transformation, our own and that of the world at large, that very faith fuels the evolutionary process in which we all have a part to play – change will happen and we’ll be right then too. So either way, at least we get to be right, which is always reassuring!
The question to contemplate today is do we want to be right about a miserable future or right about a positive one? Do we want to identify with the struggle or the blessing? Where do we want to invest our energy, in resuscitating the past and our familiar habits which keeps us stuck, or in birthing the new in which we can choose to do everything differently? It’s a powerful question and the heavens request, nay demand (!), that we ask it of ourselves today and answer it with rigorous honesty. And if we don’t like the answer we have to give, now’s our chance to renew our commitment to the path of change and evolution rather than restating, through our focus and behaviour, our commitment to noticing only the obstacles all around. Because as we work through those obstacles the energy used to keep them there is released to fuel our own transformation and that of the planet along with us. They, too, are part of the process and we need to see them as such.
These are challenging times, no doubt about that! And how those challenges manifest for each one of us varies. But what doesn’t change is the fact that committing to a brighter and freer future in the midst of a difficult present immediately changes the quality of that present. It opens a small crack through which some light can begin to shine. On 26th August that crack will be broken open to let the light flood in like never before, but we have to make the crack first, with our commitment and faith. And therein lies our task for today!
