Silence Calling

The Quarter Moon occurs at 9:07 p.m. UT on 4th October in the 12th degree of Cancer. Still in the wake of the powerful Lunar Eclipse, this Moon helps ease us from intensity to a more steady calm, even as the whirlwinds of change continue to blow. Aligning with both Jupiter and Pluto, she speaks of the effort required to traverse challenging times, together with the gifts of wisdom that arise when that effort is made. This Moon assures us that whilst our journey may take us up steep and scary paths, the view from the summit is breathtaking and offers the joy of surrender: no more fear, no more pain, just life and ourselves as one.

As the Moon fades to darkness, we too can dim our light and turn within. To return to oneself in this way is an act of great power in the modern age when so much distracts us from doing so. The seductive stimulation of everyday life keeps us from ourselves, saturating our minds with a deluge of thoughts and judgements, worries, memories, ‘if onlys’ and ‘what ifs’. This Moon reminds us the Aquarian Age is born of a unified heart which honours its own integrity, resonating with all life through time and space, not one rent asunder by the sterility of a disconnected life.

Gentle but defiant, this Cancer Moon refuses to be beaten by challenge or melted by sorrow. Instead she embraces it all, giving sanctuary to every experience, every thought and feeling which clamours to speak. She sees the separation we impose upon ourselves and each other, assuming identities that create division, carving out a concrete self we then feel obliged to defend. In her fading light we are safe to let it all go, to be no-one and yet everything, sure in the knowledge we can make ourselves anew at any time and nothing can steal the essence of who we are.

This Moon honours the awakening heart, knowing that from it flows deep truth and authenticity which lights our inner flame anew. We can no longer live divided from our very selves – deaf to the whispers of our divine core – without perpetuating profound soul damage. Refusal to acknowledge the knot of wise apprehension in our stomach, or an unhappiness symptomatic of life out of balance, deadens our senses and separates us from the blessings of the unified field in which we each occupy our own space amidst the resplendent whole.

Finding that space is the reason we’re here. Living such that it cannot be found is a slow and painful death to our parched spirit which yearns for connection. We have a choice in times of intensity: to protect and defend or open and embrace. Neither is ultimately right or wrong, but we need to shift between the two, knowing when to stand firm and when to concede, when to retreat and when to advance. Most importantly we must know when to risk compassion over criticism, and understanding over anger. This Moon whispers into the collective ear that it is time to embrace oneself, for in doing so we embrace each other. Silence is calling, inviting a gentle return to the love at our core. In the soft light of this Quarter Moon we are safe to let down our guard, turn within and know that in the stillness of our sacred heart is found our true presence, watching and waiting to lovingly greet our return.
