Smoothing the Journey

The Sun enters Scorpio at 5:48 PM UT on 23rd October. Signalling a month during which emotions will run deep but healing even deeper, the passage of the Sun through the sign of the Scorpio encourages honest assessment of our lives, to identify where the most profound change is needed and the most enduring strength found. We all have resilience and weak spots, places of power and vulnerabilities. As the Sun journeys through this deepest of water signs we can identify where they all lie, mapping our psyche in such a way that we connect the strongest places with the most vulnerable, creating internal systems of support and protection that place iron in our soul. Being able to draw upon innate resilience in one area of our life and applying it where needed in another can reward us with greater clarity and endurance when we need them the most.

Pluto, ruler of Scorpio, is in alignment with Mercury, Venus and Jupiter when the Sun enters its sign, signalling the importance of honest communication and sharing in the coming month. The heavens continue to be very relational at present, urging us to engage with those around us; to share, communicate and generally nourish intimacy and connection rather than individuality and isolation. Even though the Sun in Scorpio can be acutely private, its journey through this sign will be defined by those moments when we connect with our environment and facilitate interaction rather than withdraw into our own private world.

Which is why it’s an important time to assess our strengths and weaknesses, vulnerabilities and powers, for nothing creates positive connections like people who know themselves intimately and have no need to ‘act out’ their inner world in unconscious and disruptive ways. The deeper we know ourselves in all our roles and guises, the more fully we can occupy the present moment, enabling us to wisely assess the contribution required to ensure positive outcomes, make decisions from a place of clarity and act with focused intent.

In the coming month we’re invited to open our eyes to what’s really going on around and inside us, applying down-to-earth wisdom which neither runs from the truth nor embellishes it. Life is what it is and we are what we are, as is everyone else! Looking upon the complexity that is our life with eyes wide open and a heart to match enables objective assessment of where we are blessed with wisdom, where we are in need of healing and what we can offer to facilitate our collective arrival in the Aquarian Age.

The Sun’s journey through Scorpio can take us down to the depths and up to the heights, but ultimately it’s the balance point in the middle we must occupy with ever greater love. From there we can navigate life’s ups and downs, challenges and blessings, using each one as fodder for greater insight. We all have our strengths and this Sun wants us to acknowledge and use them, just as it illuminates where we are most vulnerable and in need of our own loving care. The independent self-possession of the Sun in Scorpio can prevent or facilitate intimacy, creating defensive reactions or open hearted connection. It all depends on the choices we make and our own commitment to life’s truths as they reveal themselves each day. Truth denied stifles our life force and stunts our inner growth. Truth acknowledged enhances authenticity and nourishes awakening. Which we choose in the coming month is our choice and ours alone. No one can make it for us, but we all have the same choice to make. Committing now to making the best one will go a long way to smoothing the journey ahead and promoting supportive and loving responses, not defensive and isolating ones.
