13th October 2015 - New Moon in Libra: This Moon illuminates the struggle between a new way of living and the old ways of being we know so well. It’s easy to see them as mutually exclusive, to believe we must let go of all past things to live a full and vibrant future, but she begs to differ, reminding us that the future is born of the past; that every plant needs mature roots to grow new seed and every new born needs the nurturing wisdom of an adult to protect them as they grow

The Moon is new in the 20th degree of Libra at seven minutes past midnight on 13th October 2015 UT. Opposed by Uranus she illuminates the struggle between a new way of living and the old ways of being we know so well. It’s easy to see them as mutually exclusive, to believe we must let go of all past things to live a full and vibrant present, but this Moon begs to differ. She reminds us the future is born of the past; that every plant needs mature roots to grow new seed and every new born needs the nurturing wisdom of an adult to protect them as they grow. We cannot simply let go and propel ourselves into the new but must journey step by step, assessing our baggage as we go, deciding what needs to stay and what must be released en route to lighten our load.

It’s tempting to view the past as defunct. We strive to release old pain, to let go of former selves and arrive fully in the now, authentically whole. But whole includes the past and the future woven into a radiant present. We must embody our unique self born of personal history, and live our essence which is neither you nor me, now nor then, but simply alive within everything and everyone. The divine breathes through us as we awaken to the sacredness of our very selves, each a distinct force of energy and intent, shaped by every millisecond of our life radiating its influence evermore through time and space.

In the darkness of this wise Moon we can reflect upon all that has brought us to this moment: the joys and fears, troubles and triumphs, the mundane hours and miraculous graces. Every single moment is a spark of life eternal, manifesting through us as experiences that mark us out one from another. As much as we seek to heal and grow, we are reminded there is nothing to do and nowhere to go. We are complete right now as only we can be. This profound paradox lies at the heart of the spiritual path, shaped by the timing of our lives, but walked within timeless space where we have already arrived.

The beauty of this Moon lies in her acceptance of all that is: old and new, past and future, pleasure and pain. She sees the divine everywhere and honours its unique expression in us all. No matter what we may think or feel, there is a place for every experience, every thought and emotion under the sun. In this truth rests the most powerful healing we can know. There is nothing to fear or escape, only a journey ever deeper into the riches of the present which reveals itself to be both past and future too, merged in one resplendent moment of grace.

This mystical Moon offers solace to those who hurt and seek healing, to those who hope and seek outcomes and to those who fear and seek safety. All that we need is right here in the very depths of our being where all things are found. We are woven together by threads of divine light connecting every contradiction, every paradox and fragment, into a unique tapestry shaped as you and me. As this Moon brings the eclipse season to a close we can rest deeply in Sacred Source, no matter how much we struggle on the outside. She assures us we simply cannot be lost, even in the deepest darkness, for we live immersed in cosmic grace that forever lights our way.

There is great solace in this Moon. Not born of platitudes that say ‘there, there, it’ll all work out in the end’, but of wisdom which knows the pains of this world in all their heart-wrenching glory but nonetheless draws from the infinite grace of the unified heart. She invites us to do the same, for all that comes to pass will lead us home if we let it and every moment of our life is born of grace if we will but see.
